Claudio Chiappucci (Uboldo, VA -28 febbraio 1963) Ciclista su strada, pistard e ciclocrossista italiano. Professionista dal 1989 al 1998, conta tre vittorie di tappa al Tour de France, una al Giro d'Italia e una Milano-Sanremo.Balza agli onori della cronaca nella edizione del Tour de France del 1990, quando entra in una delle classiche fughe bidone dei primi giorni arrivando ad accumulare più di 10' di vantaggio sui favoriti. Nelle tappe successive i suoi compagni di fuga lasciano i primi posti e soltanto lui resta ai vertici della classifica, vestendo la maglia gialla per 8 tappe, dalla 13ª fino alla penultima. La penultima tappa è a cronometro: Chiappucci parte con 5" di vantaggio sul grande favorito Greg LeMond, ma non riesce a difenderli, terminando il Tour al secondo posto in classifica generale. Fu il primo italiano a salire sul podio dal 1972, quando Felice Gimondi arrivò secondo dietro a Eddy Merckx.Nella sua carriera ha dovuto confrontarsi con campioni come Gianni Bugno e Miguel Indurain. Nel suo palmarès risaltano la vittoria alla Milano-Sanremo del 1991, dopo una lunga fuga, e la medaglia d'argento conquistata nel 1994 al campionato del mondo su strada disputato in Sicilia. Tra le vittorie più prestigiose va annoverata anche la Clásica San Sebastián del 1993 mentre tra i piazzamenti nelle gare di un giorno ci sono il terzo posto al Campionato di Zurigo del 1990, al Rund um den Henninger-Turm del 1989 e alla Freccia Vallone del 1991 e del 1993, nonché i secondi posti nel Henninger-Turm del 1992, nella Clásica San Sebastián dello stesso anno e nel Giro di Lombardia del 1992 e del 1994. Nel 1991 fu infine terzo al campionato italiano su strada.Memorabile la sua impresa del 18 luglio 1992: il Tour celebrava Fausto Coppi, che esattamente 40 anni prima aveva compiuto un'impresa leggendaria restando in fuga per 192 km e valicando in solitaria cinque colli alpini di Prima categoria. L'arrivo (al Sestriere) e alcune parti della tappa ricalcavano il percorso del Campionissimo. Chiappucci restò in fuga solitaria per 7 ore e 45 minuti (pari a 200 km), staccando anche Bugno e Indurain; il campione spagnolo patì al termine della tappa 2 minuti di ritardo (anche se alla fine vinse ugualmente il suo secondo Tour de France).
