Giuseppe Saronni (Novara, 22 settembre 1957)  Professionista dal 1977 al 1990, vinse due Giri d'Italia, una Milano-Sanremo, un Giro di Lombardia e un mondiale in linea.Professionista dal 1977, inizialmente vestì la casacca bianconera della Scic. Il 23 febbraio dello stesso anno, al Trofeo Laigueglia, fu secondo davanti al campione del mondo Freddy Maertens. Nel 1979, a soli 21 anni e 8 mesi, fu maglia rosa a Milano. La corsa si decise nella cronoscalata di San Marino, dove Saronni vinse indossando la maglia rosa che non lasciò più agli avversari, risultando uno dei vincitori più giovani della storia del Giro.Ottenne le vittorie più importanti nei mesi tra febbraio 1982 e giugno 1983: concluse la serie di successi con un secondo Giro nel 1983, dopo che nell'autunno del 1982 aveva trionfato ai Campionati del mondo di Goodwood, in Gran Bretagna, battendo in volata l'americano Greg LeMond.Nella bacheca di Saronni mancano vittorie al Tour de France, dove non corse mai tranne una volta a fine carriera. Ha indossato 49 volte la maglia rosa e ha sempre gareggiato sulle biciclette di Ernesto Colnago.Verso la metà degli anni ottanta la sua forma declinò e abbandonò le corse nel 1990.
