Incredibile Giorgio Calcaterra! A quant'anni compiuti, l'ultramaratoneta romano centra il settimo successo consecutivo, con il tempo di 6:44:51, al 'Passatore' del quarantennale, appena, si fa per dire, 32 giorni dopo aver conquistato il titolo mondiale di specialità (il 22 aprile, a Seregno). Calcaterra entra dunque nella leggenda della 'Firenze-Faenza', perché con il traguardo delle sette vittorie consecutive in altrettante edizioni, un risultato mai conseguito da nessun altro atleta, supera il "mito" russo della corsa, quell'Alexey Kononov, che di 'Passatori' ne ha vinti sei: 1993, '94, '95, '97, 2000 e 2001.Calcaterra ha preceduto di 7:09 l'esordiente Pietro Colnaghi (6:51:59), lombardo di Merate, conosciuto nelle terre tosco-romagnole per aver corso, fra le altre, la Maratona del Mugello (2° nel 2009 e 4ç nel 2010). Splendida conferma dopo di loro, l'emiliano Daniele Palladino (5° nel 2011), terzo a 22:14 (7:07:05). Tra le donne, quarto successo della trentina Monica Carlin, a suon di record della corsa: 7:35:07 (4:35" in meno rispetto al record precedente, che le apparteneva), davanti all'esordiente russa Irina Pankosvskaya (8:02:54), che ha rimontato nel finale Paola Sanna (8:04:05).
