Giovanni Battaglin (Marostica, 22 luglio 1951)Ciclista su strada italiano. Professionista dal 1973 al 1984, vinse un Giro d'Italia e una Vuelta di Spagna.Nel 1972 vinse il Giro d'Italia dilettanti e l'anno dopo passò professionista con la Jollyceramica, piazzandosi terzo nella corsa rosa dietro Eddy Merckx e Felice Gimondi. Nel 1974 vinse il Giro dell'Appennino e nel 1975 sembrò destinato ad aggiudicarsi il Giro dopo aver vinto due tappe (una in salita e una cronometro) e aver indossato per due giorni la maglia rosa, ma un crollo sulla salita del Ciocco lo costrinse a un finale di giro nelle retrovie.Negli anni successivi vinse una tappa al Tour de France 1976 e nel 1978 passò alla Fiorella, con cui conquistò nello stesso anno tre tappe del giro della Svizzera. Approdato alla Inoxpran, nel 1979 vinse la classifica scalatori al Tour de France nel quale si classificò sesto. Con la maglia della nazionale italiana ai mondiali del 1979, disputatisi a Valkenburg, fu tra i protagonisti della fuga vincente, ma cadde ostacolato dall'olandese Raas e dal tedesco Thurau, che gli tagliarono la strada nella volata finale.Nel 1980 fu terzo al Giro d'Italia dietro Bernard Hinault e Wladimiro Panizza. L'anno della consacrazione fu il 1981, nel corso del quale vinse il Giro d'Italia e la Vuelta di Spagna, accoppiata riuscita in precedenza solo ad Eddy Merckx ed in seguito ad Alberto Contador.Dopo i trionfi al Giro ed alla Vuelta, non ottenne più risultati di rilievo e si ritirò dal ciclismo professionistico nel 1984, anno in cui ebbe termine il contratto con la Carrera.
