Peter
Sampras (Washington, August 12, 1971) U.S. tennis player, considered by
many to be one of the best tennis players in history. "Pete"
Sampras was a champion who owes his success to his aggressive play,
powerful, and his great talent in the touch of the ball was the last
great interpreter of style Serve & Volley pure beat down with great
power and immediately to close the shot on goal with a volley. His
service often traveled over the 215 km per hour, so that was nicknamed
"Pistol Pete" and his right dish had few equals among his rivals for
power and precision. Volleys,
serves as a good & volleyer, had one of its greatest strengths, in
which managed to combine perfectly the touch, the power and its
well-known accuracy. Sampras to play are often recognized two limits, one of which is particularly serious: the reverse. There
were rare occasions when Sampras, especially on hard courts, could not
prevail because of this weakness in its showy, playing serve and volley
could not make use of a two-handed backhand so often resorted to an
inverted back or
slices, fairly effective, but not at the level of his other shots and
not even remotely comparable to that of other high profile players
(especially the one of his great rival Agassi). The
other limit (less conspicuous and less severe) that is found in the
game of Sampras enthusiasts is its great dependence on the service. Basing
his entire game plan on the power of service in several meetings,
Sampras was beaten in some cases, even by players ranked much lower,
when his line, for physical or psychological issues, was not at the top.
These
two limitations have always prevented him to be the favorite even in
tournaments played on clay, has always been difficult terrain for
players Serve & Volley. No
coincidence that the 64 tournaments won by Sampras only 4 (including
the prestigious Masters of Rome) were played on clay, although one of
the clay surfaces used in tennis circuit. Sampras
was the number one world ranking for 286 weeks (record for the men's
tennis), finishing in first place ranking for 6 consecutive years (1993
to 1998: a record that too), dominated the world circuit. He won 64 ATP tournaments, including 14 Grand Slam titles (second only to Roger Federer with 16), gaining $ 43,280,489. She
won her first Grand Slam title in 1990 against Andre Agassi, Sampras
with whom he hired a rivalry among the most beautiful tennis and sport
in general. Of
the four Grand Slam tournaments, Sampras won: 7 Wimbledon, 5 U.S. Open
and two Australian Open, Roland Garros, while in was never able to
overcome the semi-finals, despite being the number one seeded player,
and despite having won one of the world's top tournaments on clay, the Master Series of Rome, against the German Boris Becker. In
2002, when everyone had given him up on the decline, surprised by
winning the fourteenth Grand Slam title at the U.S. Open, Andre Agassi
still against, just like in 1990 and 1995. That
was the last official match of Sampras, who announced the withdrawal of
the 2003 edition of the U.S. Open, in a touching ceremony. On 20 November 2007 he played the first of three meetings in Seoul exhibition against Roger Federer losing 4-6 3-6. On 22 November in Kuala Lumpur in the second match he lost 6-7 6-7. In the last exhibition, 24 November in Macao won 7-6 6-4. Later,
in March of 2008, the two samples have played a new exhibition at
Madison Square Garden in New York, won by Federer, by a score of 6-3,
6-7, 7-6. In 2008 and in 2009 took part in several tests of the senior circuit. On October 25 tackles in exhibition in Macao, its historic rival Andre Agassi, defeating by a score of 3-6, 6-3, 10-8.
